NewJeans Effect Didn’t Work? Lowest Rating of the Year for “2 Days & 1 Night”
According to Nielsen Korea, the June 9 broadcast of “2 Days & 1 Night” Season 4, which features girl group NewJeans, recorded a disappointing rating of 6.1%.
This is the lowest rating for “2 Days & 1 Night” this year, as episode 229, aired on June 2, had a rating of 7.1%, while episode 228, aired on May 26, had a rating of 8.3%.
The low rating for the NewJeans episode was unprecedented, raising suspicions about the NewJeans effect not working, at least in the realm of variety shows. Meanwhile, the highest rating point of 9.2% was reached during the segment where Yoo Seon-ho shows off his dancing skills with NewJeans after winning the final victory in a game battle with NewJeans.
On the other hand, in the episode, NewJeans’ Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and Haerin (excluding Hyein, who was absent due to a foot injury) shared that they were nervous about their first terrestrial variety show appearance but trusted the veteran hosts of “2 Days & 1 Night.”
They also revealed themselves as fans of the show by mentioning one of Kim Jong-min’s legendary scenes.
